Welcome to the Walking Lizards web site. This guild was formed to support artist, primarily printers, in achieving their goals as artists.
The guild sponsors events and workshops and is a forum for artists to help one another. Though the guild is primarily involved in printing such as
intaglio, lithography, linocut and screen printing, we also appreciate other art mediums and work to help artists from every discipline.
A message from Kathy Hi Walking Lizards,
Thank you for all your support for the print show at DSC. It was a huge success and people are still talking about it. I had some great experiences with artists during the show. Saltgrass Printmakers are awesome. They are becoming internationally known and making a living--it can be done!

Intaglio Intaglio printing is done by etching a design into a copper plate.
Once the image is etched, ink is rolled over the plate which is then passed through a press. The ink on the surface is transfered to the paper
leaving a mirror image of the original etching.
|
Lithography Using oily crayons on the smooth surface of the a litho stone the artist
draws an image. Then through a series of steps and relying on waters antipathy to oil the stone is inked. Once the image is inked, paper is pressed
against the stone. The ink is passed from the stone to paper creating a mirror image of the drawing on the stone.

Screen Printing Screen printing is done by masking an image onto a tightly woven screen
traditionally made of silk. Ink is pressed through the unobstructed areas of the screen onto whatever surface the artist chooses.
|
Lino cut Following the traditional woodcut printing technique the artist carves out
the negative space of an image into linoleum blocks. Ink is rolled over the surface of the block, then pressed onto paper, transferring the
ink to the paper.
